Last Thursday I was at the climbing wall. It was the end of the session, and, as usual, I'd been relying too much on my arms and upper body. I was two-thirds of the way up a 6a lead route, and I'd just reached the crux. I was exhausted, my fingers weren't gripping, and the ground was unpleasantly far below. I was giving serious thought to packing it in and asking my belayer to lower me off.
Then the music coming over the speakers changed. To Primal Scream's Get Your Rocks Off.
After that, it was easy :-)
[Nearly 700 words today, by virtue of copy-and-pasting the abstracts and introductions from my two papers and stitching them together. Which brings me up to 50 pages, a milestone that I'd frankly despaired of ever reaching. Of course, reaching 60 is going to be considerably harder :-( ]
